Are hair extensions damaging to natural hair?

With proper application, at home maintenance, and timely removal, extensions should not cause damage to your natural hair.

 

How many packs/rows do I need?

The amount of hair needed for an application depends on your natural hair and the overall desired look. On average, a partial application of keratin fusion extensions requires 1-3 packs, and a full application will require 4-7+. A partial tape* application is 1 pack, and a full is 2-3+. Typically a partial application of weft extensions is 1-1.5 rows, and a full is 2-4.

 

How long will the application process take?

Application takes 30-40 minutes per pack for keratin fusion, and 45 minutes for tape*. Weft extensions take roughly 45-60 minutes per row. In addition, a 30 minute haircut and styling is included in your service. (If you’re getting a mermaid transformation with fusion extensions, bring snacks. For me.)

 

Can extensions be colored and styled with heat?

Extensions can be toned at the same level or darker. Because the extensions go through a chemical treatment prior to installation, it is not recommended to lighten them. All color enhancements and changes should be completed by a professional.

 

All extensions used are made of 100% human hair and can be heat-styled like your natural hair. Lower heats are encouraged to prolong the integrity of your extensions.

 

Will the extensions look and feel natural?

Choosing the right color and installing the proper amount of hair are both key to ensuring that your extensions blend properly with your natural hair. It is important to keep in mind that hair extensions are an organic product and textures may vary. 

 

How long do they last?

With proper care and maintenance, keratin fusion extensions typically last about 3-4 months. Tape and weft extensions need to be maintained every 5-7 weeks, and typically last 6 months. Longevity may vary based on the rate of your natural hair growth.

How can I remove them?

Fusion, tape, and weft extensions should always been removed by a professional within the recommended time frame. Leaving them in beyond the suggested window often results in matting and breakage.

Will my hair feel thinner after removal?

Yes! Having extensions does not result in hair loss, but it is normal to feel that you have “less hair” than you did before your extensions install.  We naturally shed 50-100 stands of hair per day. During your extensions wear, some of that shedding stays in the bonds until your extensions are removed. Additionally, extensions "become" a part of your hair while they are installed. You will naturally get used to having more hair than you typically have, and this feeling will consequently leave along with your extensions upon removal.

 

Am I a good candidate for extensions?

The best way to determine if extensions are right for you is to come in for a complimentary consultation. During the consultation, we will discuss your lifestyle, hair maintenance routine, and expectations. We will also decide which type of extensions will best compliment your needs.

How do I set up a complimentary consultation?

The best way to book a consultation is to send an inquiry through the website or send a text message. There will be a $25 holding fee for the appointment. If you choose to cancel the consultation within 24 hours of the appointment, or not move forward with the service after your consultation, the fee will be refunded. If you choose to move forward with a service, the fee will be applied to your service. If you cancel after the 24-hour timeframe, or no-show for your appointment, you will lose the holding fee.

 

Virtual consultations via FaceTime or Zoom can be arranged for an informational session, but a follow-up consultation in person may be necessary for an exact quote and color match.

Cancellations + Tardiness

Life happens! If for any reason you cannot make your appointment, please let me know at your earliest convenience. Service appointments with less than a 24-hour cancellation notice may be subject to a partial charge.

If you are running more than 10 minutes late to your appointment, please let me know so I can make sure I’ll be able to accommodate you.

 

Hair Deposits

To secure your service appointment that requires new hair, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of total service fee will be required at least 4 business days prior to appointment date.

 

Refunds

All details including color, length, pricing, install, maintenance, and removal will be discussed and agreed upon during your consultation. In addition, you will receive a recap of what was covered at your appointment via text or email. This is to ensure that you are aware of and comfortable with everything before moving forward with your service, as I do not offer refunds.

 

Service Appointment Prep

For any new application (fusion, tape, weft), a weft maintenance, or weft reapplication, please arrive with clean, dry, straight hair. Shampoo with a clarifying shampoo the day of your service, and avoid using conditioners, masks, or any styling products near the root before your appointment. If you are unable to come in with prepped hair, please add a shampoo + blow dry to your appointment.

 

For a tape reapplication, please arrive with clean, dry, straight hair. Feel free to use conditioner and styling products. After your extension removal, your natural hair will be shampooed as part of your reapplication, but your extensions will not be. If you wish for your extensions to be cleaned during your appointment, please book a shampoo + blow dry for your extensions with your appointment.

For keratin fusion removal + reapplication (same day), please arrive with dry hair. No special prep is required. Your hair will be shampooed and blow-dried during your appointment before installing your new set.

 

For all removals without reapplication, please arrive with dry hair. No special prep is required. Removals do not include a shampoo + blow dry.
